About us

The Council for World Mission is a worldwide community of Christian churches. The 31 member churches are committed to sharing their resources of money, people, skills and insights globally to enable each other to engage in mission locally. The European Region of CWM consists of five denominations:

• The Congregational Federation
• The Presbyterian Church of Wales
• The Protestant Church in the Netherlands
• The Union of Welsh Independents
• The United Reformed Church

In 2002 the European Region incorporated as a limited company. The Region's object is 'to spread the gospel of Christ in word and action'.

CWM Europe Vision Statement

'The CWM European Region affirms the principle of partnership in mission, seeks to interpret it in the European context, and strives to empower its member churches to make mission a priority in their enagement with contemporary society.

While seeking to respond both to global and European concerns through partnership with other CWM member churches, the Region's primary focus is the promotion of opportunities for education in mission'

From 2007 - 2012 four new priority areas have been identified as the basis for the Region's work. They are:

• Youth in Mission
• Shaping the Church for Mission
• Faith Sharing in a European Cultural Context
• Creating Community
