HOPE FOR THE FUTURE
After the success of Hope 08 a decision was made at a meeting of the supporters of the initiative, including the Congregational Federation, to extend the programme for another five years culminating in a major year of events in 2014.
“Hope” is seen as an opportunity to covenant together rather than to form partnerships. Covenant brings two or more groups together where each can use their strengths and be supported in their weaknesses.A number of the Congregational Churches took part in Hope 08 with other churches and Christian organisations which lead to amazing work within their local communities.
The Federation’s Mission and Society Committee commends the support of Hope for the Future as a major initiative for the churches as a plank in the overall involvement in community mission.
BACK TO CHURCH SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 26 2010
Back to Church Sunday is now the largest single local-church invitational initiative in the world. It is based on the simplest and shortest step in evangelism - that we should invite someone we already know to something we love; invite our friend to our church. The initial focus was to invite ‘back’ those who used to attend, but we want to ensure that anyone who doesn’t currently attend can be guaranteed a specially warm welcome.
For details of how to be involved see the Back to Church Sunday website: www.backtochurch.co.uk
